Beaver Kent Coastal Chaos!
23rd June 2026

Sunday 21st June saw 1st Repton, 1st Charing, 2nd Wye, Hamstreet & Ruckinge, and 7th Ashford Beavers join together for the Kent Beavers Coastal Chaos event at Samphire Hoe. The day began with a half-hour hike along the back of the reserve, taking in the stunning views, wildlife and beautiful wildflowers before reaching the beach for some exciting rock pooling. Led by the Samphire Hoe Rangers, the Beavers searched the rock pools for marine life, discovering crabs, fish and a variety of seaweed. We may have also added a few Beavers to the rock pools along the way, as there were a few very wet bottoms after some enthusiastic slips! After rock pooling, everyone enjoyed the walk back to the visitor centre, where we passed some colourful characters celebrating the Summer Solstice. This sparked lots of curiosity and questions from the Beavers, making for an unexpected learning opportunity. Following lunch, the groups completed a nature trail, discovering fascinating facts about Samphire Hoe before finishing the day with some creative crafting, making collages inspired by the wildlife found around the reserve. All of the Beavers had a fantastic day, enjoying new adventures, learning about nature and making memories with friends from across the District. A huge thank you goes to all the volunteers from Kent Scouts and Ashford District who gave up their time to make this wonderful experience possible for our young people.
