Ashford Carnival of the Baubles

What an amazing experience to be part of the parade this year and one the Beavers and Cubs will not forget!
Ahead of the carnival, during a workshop hosted by Made in Ashford, the young people created their lanterns using willow, tissue paper and lots of PVA glue! Our lanterns were decorated in our scarf colours of purple and green.
On the night, 1st Singleton and 1st Bethersden Cubs and Beavers certainly got into the carnival spirit holding their lighted lanterns aloft following the drummers as they walked through the town centre. Not even the heavy rain could dampen their spirits. Several hundred spectators had braved the weather including Father Christmas to cheer us on . The awesome lantern creations including a peacock, owl and dinosaur, some of which were carried by Cub parents, added to the magic of the evening .
A note from Dann at 1st Bethersden, "we made some lanterns at the hut due to some not able to attend the workshop but we had a brilliant time and despite the weather it was great to see everyone lining the street to watch".
