Being a beaver is about taking on the challenge of something new. Beavers do this in small groups called lodges or all together as a colony led by a Beaver leader with other volunteers who support their beavers to get the fullest from their activities, share and make new skills! 

Most groups have nicknames for their Beaver leaders named after characters from nature, books or films. In others, Beavers call their leader by their real first name.
