Who are Explorers?
EXPLORER SCOUTS (aged 14-18 years) make up the fourth section of the scouting family.
There are many types of explorer scout units, some may be linked to your local scout group, others may be based around different activities e.g. the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme.
Scouts are encouraged to lead themselves, design their own programme and
work towards the top awards that Scouting offers, together with the support and guidance of their Unit leaders.
prospects like being a part of camps and expeditions both home and
abroad; adventurous activities such as mountaineering, kayaking, sailing and caving; Explorers offers fun and adventure for all.
Explorers also have the opportunity to be a part of The Young Leaders' Scheme which develops their leadership skills and sense of responsibility, by helping to run meetings for younger sections.
Explorers differ from the younger age groups as they are organised at a district level which means that the individual units interact with
each other in their programme of activities and when off camping.
